For Parents & Families
Supporting a young person through public exams, and secondary education in general, can be a challenging and thankless task for parents and carers. The education system and qualifcations themselves have changed considerably in recent years and it can be difficult to keep up with developments. Your children may be studying subjects which weren’t available when you went to school. Many children face challenges today that parents don’t feel equipped to help them with. Not every young person welcomes or accepts help from their parents.
Melanie Heale
I am an education specialist, with a 20 year track record working in outstanding schools as a teacher, middle leader and member of Senior Leadership. With experience of diverse roles spanning pastoral care, Sixth Form leadership, teaching and learning and SEND, I have supported thousands of students, all of whom had their preferred way of working and vastly different levels of motivation.
I can work with you as a family, as well as with your young person, to help you navigate GCSEs and A Levels. I can support you in updating your knowledge of how exams and qualifications operate today, and aid you in understanding what your child needs to achieve in order to reach the next level of their education, whether that is progressing to A Levels or University.
If your child is experiencing learning difficulties at school or you think they might have a special need, I can help you to understand the support which might be available to them. This includes the role of access arrangements in helping to create a level playing field for students who would otherwise be disadvantaged.
Working together we can help your child to achieve the best possible outcomes without putting unnececessary strain on either them or your family relationships.
